Voirey

When I was about twelve, I went to my mom’s room to look for some nail trimmers and discovered a romance novel hidden away in her nightstand. Full-on bodice ripper… which was quite shocking for me since mom was a very proper pastor’s wife. I don’t think she ever read anything like that before or since. One look at the heaving bosoms on the cover and I was as enthralled as you could expect any girl in the throes of puberty to be.

So of course, I stole it.

There was a pirate attack, a shipwreck, bodies clasped together upon the sand… Which made me wonder about chafing. I’d been to the beach. I knew where all that gritty stuff went. Unfortunately I had to go to school before I got to the good stuff, and when I came home, the book had vanished.

Two years later, I was in a store without my mother, in possession of my own money, and I saw another ripped bodice and pair of heaving bosoms. Four dollars and fifteen cents, and thirty minutes later, I was holed up with the smuttiest book I’d ever read.

I loved it.

That book changed my life. Not only did I become an avid romance reader, I decided I was going to write romance, too. I got sidetracked along the way. Life happened. Then, one day in 2008, I looked around and realized that those distractions were gone. There was nothing to stop me.

So I started writing, and it was really, really bad. But I kept writing, found people who would tell me why it was bad, and I learned to fix it.

In 2010, I finally reached my childhood goal when my first book, Risking Eternity, was published. I am determined that this will lead to a long career of doing what I love…

Making crap up.
