It is the dog days of summer. Hot and hotter and dry (at least in my little neck of the woods).
What has happened to the summer? I look at the date and see the month of July is almost over. Worst yet, it seems the goals I had in mind are sadly behind. Writing is so hard when kids are home and the sun is out and there are so many things to take care of. To say nothing of the weekend side trips and the one conference I attended. It all adds up to used up time.
All of the romance writers in america are gathered in southern California to celebrate our industry at the yearly RWA conference. Those of us unable to attend hang out on Twitter and Facebook to grasp some of the glory our friends are experiencing. I almost feel pathetic. Meanwhile, the Olympics have our attention for the next two weeks. When will there be time to really write?
And keeping up with a blog…. I don’ t even want to go there.
So, with the summer almost over, allowing for a few distractions, I am reworking my goals for the next few weeks. I’m going to write as much as I can and not be disappointed about any of it. Any number of words on the page is a boon. (That’s what I’m telling myself, at least.)
I wish all my writer friends luck with their goals the remainder of this long hot summer. Keep on plowing through. We will get it done, I know we will.
