Writing Nooks

I feel like the rabbit from Alice in Wonderland!

I’m Late! I’m Late! For a very important date!…to post my blog today!

Let’s talk about WHERE writers write. The answer of course is everywhere and anywhere. At my house, I actually have an office. It USED to look like this…

Cyndi’s Office

Notice not only the great poster of my book cover but all the male inspiration!

But my “desk” looks like this now:

And all the “stuff” off the desk in the first two pictures and in the desk drawer? Where is it now?

Stuff Fromย and Off Desk

Now I show you this to give my excuse for my lack of productivity! My desk has been dismantled to be moved to our Florida house. It is almost impossible to move through all the junk on the floor in the office, plus I’d had nowhere to sit to write. So where am I writing these days?

My Current Writing Spot

Yup! My La-A-Boy recliner, which sounds great BUT

Lots of distractions. See my husband’s chair on the left and the big television at the end of the room? I call them both are major distractions but really they’re excuses and that’s all. (Don’t you love the overflowing trash can beside my chair? lol)

Writers write. Location be damned.

So where do you write?

  1. Girl, I feel your pain. The last of my writing stuff just arrived from California. My office is set up, but it’s still a work in progress. I’m making myself work on a revision even though I have un-filed papers and junk behind me. I just have to keep it out of my sight. One of these days, I’m going to design the perfect mobile office!

  2. I have neat dest that looks out over our back yard, cypress trees and pond. It’s lovely, uncluttered and I don’t write there much. I do best out of the house. The library. The back deck. The coffee shop. But lately, with all the pregnancy aches and pains sitting upright too long hurts my hips, so I’ve been writing laid back in bed pretty darn well. ๐Ÿ™‚

  3. Does someone like Tim McGraw? ๐Ÿ˜‰

I would show you my writing nook, but it’s simply a picture of my bed, which my cat is usually draped across. It’s always nice to see where others write, so I can live vicariously through them. Someday I’ll have a home with a private writing area (I hope!). I love the poster of your cover! Yummy.

  4. I am a recliner girl, but I am getting ready to make the move to an office-type area. I’m finding that I need to be more upright when I’m typing for hours. I’m starting to have pain in my shoulders, arms, and wrists, so it’s time for this writer to ditch the TV and embrace a little ergonomic solitude.

And yes. I write with the TV or radio on. I’m the youngest of seven. Silence makes me nervous. ๐Ÿ™‚

    1. Somewhere I saw a picture of the stairs leading up to your new office space. Very cool. can’t wait to see the finished product!

And YES YES YES on the crappy writing position that the recliner puts you in. I too need to think more about that!
