Someone said to me the other day, “You always think it sounds cool to say ‘I’m writing to a deadline,” until you’re writing to a deadline.”
That’s part of being a working author. Deadlines. And I’m on one. There’s a part of me that’s terrified (a fairly big part), but I can’t quit grinning. A publisher is actually EXPECTING a book from me.
And this is where the rubber meets the road. The first book took years to get into shape while I learned more about my craft. This second book can’t take longer than four months – and I only have six weeks of that left. I get to prove, and use, what I’ve learned.
So forgive me if this post is short. I’m writing to a deadline.
I’ll check in next month.
